Cars, Make it visually appealing

There are ways to make it more visually appealing when selling it. It can be given a good wax job, or painted, for example. Make sure to always wash and scrub the exterior clean and get rid of all trash and stray paper from inside. This makes the car look and feel (and smell) better, and lets your buyer know you're taking their sensibilities into consideration. They might be willing to negotiate for a higher price because they would appreciate the respect and courtesy shown them in making your used car the best condition it can possibly be.

Mechanically speaking, the car has to be in its best possible condition, at least what you yourself can take care of. This means getting rid of everything that hints at a car's prior usage when selling a used car. Another step when selling a used car is to make sure to clean up the car itself - remove all trash, stray washcloths, tools - all of these things can contribute to a possible buyer thinking the car's not worth buying at your asking price because repair tools have to be on hand.

Make sure that you speak slowly and clearly when bargaining for price - this will help to prevent any misunderstandings, and of course, make sure to have something in writing. It's always best to have something in writing. When you get a buyer after wanting to sell your used car, they'll likely make an offer of their own. If the offer they give seems to be too low an amount, you can either hold firm with your own price or negotiate something in between. If a person test-drives your car and likes it, you can expect them to make an offer. A wise choice would be to let them test drive the car - obviously go with them so they don't have an oportunity to steal the car, as many thieves have been known to work in this way.

It's best to have a sheet of information about the car near the phone, just in case someone calls asking about it and you can't answer yourself. Once you start placing ads, people are going to start contacting you asking you about the car. This may be by phone, email or simply walking over to your house.

To lower the number of potential buyers who might be put off by appearances and can judge the car by its performance only, you can place the car in the garage or someplace where it won't be visible from the road if the car isn't that great-looking on the outside despite being completely mechanically sound.

If the car needs repairs it won't (or shouldn't) be priced as highly as it would be if it were new and had no problems, so take into account what repairs may be needed when you sell your used car - price is affected by this as well, because it's considered generally polite to deduct the cost of any repairs from your final asking price.
