More than just a number!

22 Nov 2005
Rumoured to be undergoing a remake for broadcast on Sky One in the coming months, the new series claims to retain the themes of paranoia, conspiracy and identity crisis that prompted the opening battle cry I am not a number, I am a free man.

Originally staring Patrick McGoohan as 'number six', the show follow various thwarted escape attempts from 'the village' by 'number two' and 'Rover' a huge inflatable balloon guard.

When choosing the car for the original series, Patrick McGoohan, said: ... we needed a car for our hero. Something out of the ordinary. A vehicle to fit his personality ... I test-drove it. This was it. A symbol of all The Prisoner was to represent: standing out from the crowd, quickness and agility, independence, individuality and a touch of the rebel ...

With an audience of 11 million viewers, the iconic green and yellow 7 with its red interior became symbolic of the show. To this day, its cult status continues to fuel enthusiasm and interest in the legendary sports car. It even prompted Caterham Cars to produce limited edition models, individually signed by the star.

Four decades later, the management at Caterham Cars is anticipating a call. As one insider acknowledged, we hope to say, Be seeing you! again.
