Prestigious Private Number Plates Defy Credit Crunch

UK car registration 1 RH has sold at auction for a huge all-in price of a quarter of a million pounds, continuing the recent trend for healthy activity in the elite private number plates market.

Dunstable, Bedfordshire (PRWEB) November 22, 2008 -- At an auction held by the UK car registrations issuing authority, DVLA, on 21 November 2008, the cherished number 1 RH was won by a bid of £247,652 including tax and commission, reports leading British number plates specialist Regtransfers.co.uk.

This significant sale continues the trend established by the sales of, among others, S 1 (£404,062), F 1 (£440,625) and 6 B (£130,000), all of which demonstrate the resilience of the private number plates market in the face of widespread financial uncertainty.

The sale of 1 RH eclipsed the performance of other lots which achieved prices that would otherwise have raised eyebrows in their own right. Amongst the respectable sales which, nevertheless, pale by comparison were CHR 151S (£13,974) and AYM 44N (£10,564).

1 RH was purchased by a businessman, formerly in the demolition industry, who now operates in the recruitment sector.
