www.OurRaceCar.com, aims to attract 20,000 members to finance the formation and operation of a racing team.
Winnipeg, MB, Canada (Vocus) January 21, 2009 -- "This will change motorsports forever," states Jesse Jarjour, creator of www.OurRaceCar.com. The websites goal is to attract 20,000 members to contribute $50.00 annually. The membership is split with $40 going towards the launch of OurRaceCar.com Racing and its operations, while the other $10 goes towards the management and upkeep of the website. In the off chance that no racing team is ever formed the membership fee is 80% refundable. As one member stated, "If it works, I’ll be part of history, if it doesn’t I only loose $10."
Once users join, they have the opportunity to vote on everything from who the driver will be, to who will be the crew chief, and even what racing series they will participate in. "It truly will be a mass collaboration," says Jesse. "I have already stated on the site that I will have no say (other than my one vote that is) in how the team is run. I’m here to manage the site and that is it."
One of the interesting features of the site is that although membership is annual the actual term of membership doesn’t begin until the race car is purchased. For example, if someone was to join in February 2009 and the race car is purchased in December 2009, their membership would last until December 2010. "This is to ensure that no one is shorted by joining early."
"I’m very excited," says Mr. Jarjour, "I can see this getting really big, we have an advertisement going out in February in NASCAR Racing One Annual (distributed at 55 NASCAR events though out 2009). I think once this takes off it will change the sport forever."
