BMW Malaysia gets BMW Driver Training 2009 rolling

17 Jun 2009

Course designed to emphasize on driver safety and self-confidence behind the wheel.

Kuala Lumpur (PRWEB) June 17, 2009 -- BMW Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. is kicking off this year’s BMW Driver Training, starting on 27th June 2009 at the Sepang International Circuit.

First introduced to Malaysians in 2007, the BMW Driver Training was the first of its kind to be initiated by an automotive manufacturer. The full-day driving course aims to enhance the participants’ driving pleasure and skills under any given situation and to apply it in daily traffic situations. At the same time, participants of the BMW Driver Training will acquire self-confidence and driver safety tips through various practical exercises in typical traffic and hazard conditions.

"For BMW sheer driving pleasure comes from empowering owners to be able to understand the way their cars behave and how to make the most out of a situation that might otherwise rob you of that driving pleasure. Getting from point A to point B should never be a boring affair, and we’d like to make sure that you’re able to get there safely as well" said BMW Press & Corporate Affairs Manager, Vijayaratnam Tharumartnam.

With its emphasis on driver safety, the programme commences with a classroom session which will discuss the theoretical principles on driving and followed by a series of driving exercises from Seat position demonstration, handling double-handed slalom , emergency braking, emergency lane changes, under and over steering as well as other manoeuvring exercises that will have participants embrace the pleasure of driving with confidence.

In line with BMW’s aim to promote driver safety to as wide an audience as possible, there will be six sessions of BMW Driver Training, conducted from June until December 2009. Limited seats of 20 are available for each session and participants will undergo training with the BMW 3 Series. Certificates from BMW Malaysia will be given to participants upon completing the session.

Individual booking fee for each BMW Driver Training participant is RM1,700, while BMW White Card Elite members will get to enjoy the privilege price of RM1,500. For booking or further enquiries about the programme, please log on to http://bmw.com.my/drivertraining or call BMW Voice, BMW Malaysia’s 24 hour call centre at 1 800 88 3000.

About BMW Advanced Training Programme:
In 1977 BMW became one of the first car makers in the world to offer customers the opportunity to optimise their know-how at the wheel. Back then the entire project started out as a "Driving School" using various models in the first BMW 3 Series. Today the BMW Group Driving Experience comprises not only BMW Driver Training, but also Mini Driver Training and BMW Motorcycle Rider Training. The fleet of vehicles has increased to more than 250 cars and 100 motorcycles for all kinds of programmes and activities.

Some 1,000 training events take place each year in Germany alone, with approximately 18,000 drivers and riders taking part. Since 1977 more than 200,000 participants have gained superior skills in training sessions on tracks and circuits closed to the public, subsequently benefiting from these skills through their greater confidence at the wheel and extra safety in everyday traffic.
