Miami, FL-Lexus has taken a bold step forward, unleashing its first-ever attempt at a "supercar", the 2011 Lexus LFA at the Tokyo Motor Show on October 20th, 2009. The same evening, Imagine Lifestyles attended the official "North American Introduction" for the LFA in South Beach, Miami.
Miami, FL (PRWEB) October 24, 2009 -- Lexus has taken a bold step forward, unleashing its first-ever attempt at a "supercar", the 2011 Lexus LFA at the Tokyo Motor Show on October 20th, 2009. The same evening, Imagine Lifestyles attended the official "North American Introduction" for the LFA in South Beach, Miami.
There were fewer than 15 press members invited to the North American Lexus LFA Introduction, and Imagine Lifestyles, leader in exotic car rentals, is honored to have been among them. When asked what inspired Lexus to develop a supercar, their response was simple,
"From the very beginning of automobile history, supercars have represented dreams, hopes and aspirations," explained Haruhiko Tanahashi, chief engineer of the LFA’s development program. "For Lexus a brand that aims to provide customers enlightened moments and memorable experiences, the development of a world-class supercar was an indispensable next step."
The event began at the Mondrian Hotel South Beach with a welcome dinner, where the heads of Lexus introduced themselves and enthusiastically provided an overview of the events for the following day, as well as a description of their newest addition-the LFA.

"The LFA marks a watershed point for Lexus and its global debut marks the spectacular arrival of a new flagship for the F portfolio of Lexus performance models. In an ever-increasing market place it is, unsurprisingly, unique-a Lexus that single-handedly creates new boundaries to redesign the supercar for the 21st century."
The following morning Lexus provided transportation from the Mondrian to the Homestead Speedway, where a catered lunch was served followed by the official introductory meeting for the LFA.
Speakers for the introductory meeting included Pro Driver Scott Pruett, National Manager Paul Williamsen, Vice President of Sales Brian Smith, and Manager of Division Communications Ming-Jou Chen. Also present were Project Manager Sunao Ichihara, Master Driver and Engineer Hirose Naruse and translator Erik Jorgensen. The presentation was put together flawlessly, and afterward it was out to the track to finally meet the Lexus LFA in the flesh, or carbon-fiber.
Planning for the LFA began almost ten years ago, and that was apparent upon first glance of the supercar. Sleek lines give way to an exotic interior, and the rumble of the first-ever 4.8-liter V10 engine reverberated around the Homestead Speedway as the Lexus engineers warmed both LFA’s up for the test-drives. The LFA produces 552 horsepower, and hits the 0-60 mark in 3.6 seconds, with a top speed of approximately 202 miles per hour.
Each member of the press was able to ride along with a master driver, and to also drive the LFA around the pre-arranged course for three laps. The course did not include the sharp embankment turns, which is just as well with a $375,000 exotic car boasting $10,000 brakes. After the test drives, Master Driver Hirose Naruse surprised Kristy Sullivan of Imagine Lifestyles with a special trip around the track, including the embankment turns.
The Lexus LFA is scheduled to make its first delivery in just over a year. Only 500 LFA’s will be produced, and there are already several sold. Lexus is introducing the LFA to the world, and exhilarated to be joining the realm of the supercars.
"What we needed-and what we have created-is a car that moves the driver in more ways than one," explained Tanahashi. "The LFA is a car that stirs all the senses."
