SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (Business Wire EON) October 21, 2008 -- In November of 2007, EPA raised certain concerns about some of Unelko’s products. Even though Unelko was engaged in what we thought were fruitful discussions to resolve the matter, on October 10 without notice, EPA issued a Stop Sale order for certain Unelko products.
Unelko is disappointed and vigorously disputes EPA’s actions because Unelko believed the products could be sold under a long-standing exemption from registration with the EPA. Moreover, Unelko believes that its products are safe for their intended use. These products have been tested in accordance with Consumer Product Safety Commission Guidelines under the Federal Hazardous Substances Act. However, Unelko is working with EPA to clarify the products’ status and get them back on the market as quickly as possible.
Unelko has furnished all information requested by the EPA in order for the agency to gain an understanding of the technologies involved in these products, and we are confident that agreement on all outstanding issues soon will be reached so that all Unelko products will once again be available to our customers.
