MetoKote Corporation, Inc., the industry leader in metal finishing processes, is pleased announce that their San Antonio, Texas plant received the Environmental Excellence Award in Industrial Pretreatment at the 2008 Environmental Seminar from the San Antonio Manufacturers Association (SAMA) & the San Antonio Water Systems (SAWS). MetoKote also became certified to the international environmental certification ISO 14001 in August of 2008.
San Antonio, Texas (PRWEB) October 31, 2008 -- The San Antonio Manufacturers Association (SAMA) & the San Antonio Water Systems (SAWS) awarded MetoKote Corporation, San Antonio, Texas the Environmental Excellence Award in Industrial Pretreatment at the 2008 Environmental Seminar.
This award is given annually to Significant Industrial Users (SIUs) that have met the general criteria established by the Division. This criteria includes: not having any reporting violations from January 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008 to indicate current compliance; the company has been permitted for at least two years; and the company has not been listed as Significantly Non-Compliant (SNC) in the past three years. In addition, award recipients must display environmental stewardship by recognizing best management practices, water conservation practices, pollution prevention and initiatives that are educational, innovative, cooperative, responsive, voluntary and effective. MetoKote had top honors this year and was one of only three companies selected.
MetoKote also became certified to the international environmental certification ISO 14001 on August 1, 2008. "We have worked very hard to reduce the waste discharge rate and water usage and to eliminate any possible air pollutants to achieve our ISO 14001 certification which in turn helped us with receiving the Environmental Excellence Award," stated Pedro Font, MetoKote, San Antonio Plant Manager. "We made significant environmental improvements when we organized an environmental team over a year ago to set objectives & create our Environmental Management System (EMS)."
MetoKote’s Corporate Environmental Director, Ted Wells, also added, "This team should be very proud of their accomplishments. I have seen many companies over the years become ISO 14001 certified but I haven’t witnessed any that had no non-conformances in their final audit and at the same time achieving this status three months prior to their goal."
