Big savings on Ford servicing costs

16 Jan 2006
The cost of ownership of 2006 Ford cars has been slashed - as servicing has been made easier thanks to advances in the durability of vehicle components.

All Ford cars registered in 2006 have a revised schedule for routine servicing work. While service intervals remain unchanged at 12 months or 12,500 miles, significantly less work is now required on the first service and in alternate services.

On a Ford Focus 1.6 petrol model, the new service schedule means savings of £168.95 over a three-year/62,500-mile period, while a Focus 1.6 TDCi would enjoy a service-cost reduction of £153.65.

On a Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCi the saving is £118.09, and a Mondeo 2.0 petrol model benefits to the tune of £96.96.

The move has been made possible by cumulative improvements in the durability of Ford components over time. With fewer parts now requiring regular checks, it has been possible to reduce workshop labour times.

Ford recommends vehicles are taken to Ford authorised repairers to ensure they are serviced in line with the manufacturer's guidelines and can be checked for necessary updates using Ford systems.

Authorised repairers use the latest Ford diagnostic equipment, tools and systems, and employ Ford-trained technicians. They can also carry out any necessary warranty repairs during the service.
