The Automotive history of American Motors.
|
An American automobile company was formed in 1954 called the American Motors Corporation or for short AMC. The formation came due to a merger between the Hudson Motor Car Company and the Nash-Kelvinator Corporation.
The merger was a historic moment as it was the largest merger in United States history and was valued at $198,000,000.
In the 1970''s AMC started to look for other companies to part with as a result of declining sales in a highly competitive market, this led to a merger with Renault in 1979 and lasted just 8 years when in 1987 the Chrysler Corporation stepped in and bought American Motors which discontinued the brand and as a result Renault was also discontinued in the United States.
However the Jeep line was continued along with some popular models from Eagle. |
