Pedata RV Center looks to Fleetwood RV Inc, Northwest RV show and RV units shipped to retailers for signs of a turn in the economy.
(Vocus) September 23, 2009 -- Every day seems to bring more positive news for the RV industry. The latest encouragement comes from Fleetwood RV Inc, the Northwest RV Show and a rise in units shipped to retailers showing higher amounts than last year. "It’s been a tough year for a lot of us in the RV business," says of Pedata RV Center, "but we’ve stayed positive and used the time to find ways to better connect with our consumers. It looks like other companies have done the same and we’re finally seeing the rewards."
American Industrial Partners Capitol Fund bought the Fleetwood brand in July after the company declared bankruptcy. An incentive package from the Indiana Economic Development Corp worth up to $9.1 million made the deal even sweeter. While projections forecasted employment at 600 by the end of the year, the company is currently employing 630 staff with plans for an additional 300 to come on board by the end of the year.
Also seeing a boost in interest is the Northwest RV Show scheduled to be held in British Columbia from September 24-27. Over 50 exhibitors are expected with attractions such as the Innovative Green section for environmentally minded RVers. Accessories and gadgets can also be found along with the newest technology in RVs.
Another positive sign for the industry is the amount of units shipping to retailers. Over 167,000 RVers were shipped in June 2009, more than was shipped in June 2008. With so many signs pointing to an upswing in the economy, retailers have reason to be hopeful.
