San Diego, CA (Vocus) October 16, 2009 -- RMJ Technologies, a fleet management GPS vehicle tracking solutions provider, announced today that the San Diego County Water Authority (SDCWA) has selected and implemented its fleet management solution to wirelessly monitor GPS location, engine diagnostics and emissions for its entire fleet. RMJ Technologies has supplied the SDCWA with the Networkfleet wireless fleet management system that combines GPS vehilce tracking technology with engine diagnostics to improve the productivity and efficiency of fleet operations.

The Water Authority is a public agency serving the San Diego region as a wholesale supplier of water. The Water Authority works through its 24 member agencies to provide a safe, reliable water supply to support the region’s $171 billion economy and the quality of life of 3 million residents.

Al Garza, System Maintenance Supervisor in Fleet Services, noted the key environmental benefits of using this fleet management GPS vehicle tracking system. “It helps decrease greenhouse gases in several ways: by alerting the mechanics via email of maintenance needs (properly maintained vehicles operate more efficiently) and monitoring the vehicles constantly, instead of during smog checks every two years. In addition, we can manage idle time and vehicle speeds, since low speeds create fewer pollutants, and the GPS vehicle tracking system helps drivers select the best routes.” Furthermore, “With an estimated 10% reduction in fuel use fleet wide, the Water Authority can expect to save $25,000 a year in fuel costs. The exemption of the bi-annual smog check saves $7,000 a year, and the included 24/7 roadside assistance saves $3,000 a year. On top of this, there are savings realized by catching problems early and eliminating costly repairs with the preventative Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Reporting System. Overall the fleet management system will pay for itself in less than six months the first year, and in less than three months for each following year. This will be a huge cost savings for the Water Authority over time, which is a big plus to our budget.”

Networkfleet’s patented GPS vehivel tracking system reads real-time diagnostics from the vehicle’s engine to allow fleet managers to monitor precise information such as exact vehicle speed, fuel consumption, and emissions status for all vehicles. Fleet managers log in to a secure Web site to view vehicle performance data and receive reports emailed directly to their in-box daily, weekly, or monthly.

“RMJ Technologies works with a variety of public agencies and private companies to help them use GPS vehicle tracking systems to reduce fuel costs, lower maintenance expenses, and reduce emissions,” said Jerome Toliver, CEO, RMJ Technologies. “We are happy to help the SDCWA achieve its goals to improve operating efficiencies and lower emissions. We encourage agencies and municipalities to contact us to take advantage of existing contracts that include public agency clauses, thus saving the time and expense of the RFP process.”
