Car, Keep Your Car Safe

Every day, thieves steal cars from parking lots and street sides. It's impossible to guess when a car to be stolen or broken into ; at any given time, any car is acceptable to being broken into or stolen. A simple window smash can let someone into your car. While you cannot physically stop someone from walking up to your car and smashing a window, there are a few steps you can take to help keep your care safe from someone looking to break into or steal it. Some of these examples may seem obvious, but often, the most simple mistakes open up a vehicle to being stolen.

If it's warm outside, feel free to roll your windows down. As stupid as it may sound, be sure to roll your windows back up when you are leaving the car for any period of time. Leaving your car windows open while unattended easily begs someone to take a look and take whatever they want. With that being said, be sure to lock your windows as well. If you're using a key fab, be sure to click the lock button until the car responds with a beep; you may think that your car is locked, but an accidental button miss could leave your car wide open to thieves. If you are parking in a parking lot, be sure to park as close to the front of the lot as possible. Because the cars in the front of the lot are closest to the traffic and view, they are less likely to be broken into.

There are also some actual extra measures that you can purchase to assure the safety of a car. The most popular method for car safety is to install a car alarm. Many new cars come with an alarm pre-fixed in the vehicle, but others do not. Having an alarm system will scare off any potential theft, as the noise catches attention. More importantly, a sticker announcing the car alarm system on the windows of the car itself could even save the car from the smashed window; anyone looking to steal a car, or whats inside of the car, will not mess with a car that will draw attention to their crime. Another possible expenditure to keep your car safe is the steering wheel bar. These bars come with a lock and key or a number code system. When placed on the wheel, these bars make it impossible to maneuver the car, as the wheel is locked with the bar. While this requires some extra effort, this may be a great idea for a time when you are parking in a large parking garage, or will be parking on the side of a road for a long period of time.

Sometimes, assuring that your car will not be harmed is as simple as remember to roll down your windows. Other times, an actual product is needed to keep your car safe. Not every method is right for every car, but any combination of these simple reminders or objects will be sure to drastically reduce the risk that your car will be broken into, or stolen.
