Ford Cougar V6 24v MkII (C2) - This car has done very little hard work in its life and I have discovered all the history from day one – it was supplied to a disabled badge holder who bought it from Hendy Ford in Cosham near Portsmouth on 25th Jan 2001 (for about £22,000) and it only did 6,419 miles from then until May 10th 2004 when it was traded in at Hendy Ford in Cosham (the original supplier). It was priced up and sold at £9995. By May 2005 it had still only done 16,705 miles when it went back to Hendy Ford for servicing. Then the 2nd owner apparently moved to Wales and spent some time going back and forward to Portsmouth area on a fairly regular basis which took the mileage up to 29,920 by May 9th, 2006 and then it was 39,000 by May 2007 which is when I bought it from a dealer in Surrey who had brought it direct from the lady who put the miles on it. I am the third owner and since then I have done less than 6,000 as it is now still only 45,700 miles.
Since I have owned it I have maintained it very carefully and had the rear wheel bearings replaced which made a clicking noise and I was told it did not need this work but it occurred because it had sat for so long when new and done very low mileage. The dealer I bought it from replaced two tyres in May 07 and I replaced the other two very soon after I bought it.
The bodywork is in very good condition with no rust whatsoever and very clean underneath with very clean wheel arches and solid sills etc. There is a very light scratch on the nearside rear arch which cannot be seen unless you really look for it and would require only the lightest of smart paint repairs. It polishes out with T-cut when I wash it but feint traces can be seen again 3 months later. This is a very slight problem but I am mentioning it to be as honest as possible. The interior is very clean and everything works without exception.
This car is a Mk II and one of the 250 of the last batch of Ford Cougars imported into the UK in early 2001 from US.
This is a MkII model – better looking than the earlier Cougar – with new lower slatted front valance treatment to air intakes. Also had re-styled dash and later steering wheel version, also new style 16" six spoke alloys which are in very good condition. It has body colour bumpers and door handles, body colour/black electric/heated door mirrors, bright scuff plates, front fog lights, rear fog light, tailgate wash wipe, tinted glass.
This car comes with switchable traction control, electrically adjustable drivers seat, switchable gearbox (economy mode and sport mode) and cruise control. Everything works.
I am selling it becausecurrently have two vans and four cars and its not a very big driveway so SWMBO says it has to go!
Another bonus is that because it is a Jan 2001 car it doesn't fall into the post March 2001 car tax bracket, whereby it will cost hundreds more to tax in a year or so.

Ford Cougar - This car has served me very well for 4.5 years (as the second owner), but a new car forces a quick sale. Air Conditioning, CD Stereo, Electric Sunroof, Electric Windows, Central Locking, Alloy Wheels, ABS, Cruise Control, Full Dealer Service History, New MOT, plenty of tread on tyres, pads/discs replaced 6 months ago. 1998-2003 Ford Cougar Review
Ford aimed the American-inspired Cougar at more mature motorists. It's good looking and its Mondeo-derived mechanicals perform well, but it was neither sporty nor special enough to make its mark.
